Monday, June 20th, 2016 was the first official day of CrossFit classes. On that day, we had 3 classes – 5:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m. and had 14 people in attendance. We dead-lifted, ran, did a few pull-ups and KBS and embarked on a journey to forge a fitness and community that was an unparalleled experience for our members.
Fast forward to one year later, and we now have 6 classes every single day, kids club, sports training, and 400+ visits every single week. We have developed a community of almost 200 athletes who call CrossFit KMC their training home and a powerful group of individuals who have decided that easy will no longer suffice…status quo will no longer do. Doubters have become believers and critics have fallen by the wayside.
Why do we do it? We love it and we want to make this the best hour of your day. Our passion will continue to be all about helping people get better, with movement, fitness and nutrition being secondary. Our promise is to incorporate that which is beneficial to our body, mind, and overall health, both mentally and physically and to provide our community with a high quality, fun training environment.
There has been story after story of individuals who have improved their physical health such as lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, getting off medication, losing weight or body fat percentage, gaining muscle mass and flexibility, or simply being able to run instead of walk during a workout or get up and down all the way on a push-up. There has also been story after story of how CrossFit has helped grow individuals in arguably the toughest area of life – between the ears. Stories of improved confidence, self-esteem, and overcoming fears are some of our favorites and are timeless in their ability to inspire and motivate others.
What does CrossFit mean to you? For some, CrossFit has been a new experience this past year. For others, it has been a continuation of a journey that started somewhere else. Wherever you are at in your journey, CrossFit is the medium that keeps us connected, striving for improvement, and coming back for more. The fun is in the community and the people you train with every single day.
Trust the process, focus on your effort every day, lose the comparison mentality, and remember that it is you against you. Health is the best gift you can give yourself – stoke the fire and it will not return void. Here’s to many more successes and breakthroughs in year #2 and congratulations on making it an awesome first year!
