Name: Annie Marshall
Hometown: Normal, IL
Occupation: Orthopedics Physician Assistant at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello IL .. currently accepting new patients—tell your friends 😉
How long have you been doing CrossFit? 2.5 years, since KMC opened in July 2016.
What do you enjoy about CrossFit and being a member at CrossFit KMC? I love the community aspect of our box—and the Crossfit community in general. I don’t know what I’d do without the people I have met here, they truly have become my closest friends. As a person not native to Monticello, finding badass (can I say badass?) women and men with similar interests and goals has been huge for me. I feel the sense of community here at our box, and at other places too where I have been fortunate enough to drop in and have wonderful experiences with coaches and members. I feel like CrossFit KMC separates itself from other affiliates by offering more to our community, and being so engaged in battling chronic disease. That is so important to me as a provider, especially in orthopedics. I tell my patients all the time—the BEST thing they can do is just to keep moving!
What’s your favorite exercise/movement in CrossFit? Snatches and pull-ups. (But really, anything barbell and gymnastics!)
What is one CrossFit/fitness related goal you are working to achieve? Train every day not to have a wheelhouse. A wise man who is kinda good at
Crossfit said that once, and it stuck with me.
What is your favorite food? Tacos. Always.
Favorite sports team? Despite their sad excuse for an appearance in the Cotton Bowl this year, I live and breathe Notre Dame football. I’m also a
lifelong Cubs & Bears fan and more recently, an NFL fantasy football enthusiast and Illini Basketball fan.
Where is one place you would like to visit? It’s a tie: Crossfit Solid Ground and Crossfit Sudurnes.
