What year did you start CrossFitting?

2008

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I found CrossFit after finishing my football career. My first workout was called “Barbara” and it took me forever to finish and I knew I had found something special.

Why did you become a trainer?

I enjoy watching people succeed and surprise themselves. Coaching can be demanding at times, but also extremely rewarding when you get to see the fruits of your labor lived out in the lives of people.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Rope Climbs

What is your favorite cheat food?

Chips and Salsa

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Captain America – With no superpowers, Captain America displays the ten general physical skill as the example for natural human potential.

What year did you start CrossFitting?

2013

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I was looking for something that would keep my attention and challenge me.  A coworker had started CrossFit and suggested I give it a shot.  I fell in love with it because of the constantly varied programming, the comradery in every class, and the benefits I saw in my everyday life from being healthier.

Why did you become a trainer?

I wanted to learn more about the philosophy of CrossFit and all the components that go with it.  Beyond that, I wanted the opportunity to teach and coach others and have them experience the same benefits that I have.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Deadlifts.  For a guy that is 6’ 4”, it’s the movement that moves weight the shortest distance.  J

What is your favorite cheat food?

Pizza and beer.  That’s considered one cheat food.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

I would go with Captain America because he’s the only superhero named “Steve”, but Josh already took him.  So, I’ll go with Ironman.  He’s extremely intelligent, creative, and conflicted all at the same time.  And he can fly.  Who doesn’t want to do that?

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START CROSSFITTING?

-I started CrossFit in November of 2013.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?

I have been interested in fitness since I played sports for the first time as a kid. I participated in various sports all the way through high school. Post-graduation, I found myself missing the feelings involved with competing. After watching The CrossFit Games on YouTube, I was interested in giving CrossFit a try. I have been hooked on this sport ever since.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I became a trainer because I always had an interest in coaching. When I was a kid, my dad coached my sports teams. I thought he was a great coach and I wanted to model my coaching style after his. He was selfless and had a positive impact on their lives. After I was approached about a possible coaching opportunity, I knew that this opportunity was too perfect to pass up. I love coaching and am proud of my decision to do so.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT?

I could not choose between just one CrossFit movement. I would have to say the Snatch and Pull-Ups are my favorite movements.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

Mexican food is by far my favorite cheat meal. Who can resist chips and salsa?

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

Unfortunately, my choice for favorite superhero was taken by the man, the myth, the legend, Steve. My second choice is The Incredible Hulk because he is super swole and has a big heart.

What year did you start CrossFitting?

2016

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

The long and short of why I got into fitness is because I’ve always struggled with my weight and though I’m not your “typical” fitness look, I have loved helping people achieve their own personal successes.  (that’s the short version)  I got into CrossFit because I needed something different than I was doing and my husband and I thought we could do it together.

Why did you become a trainer?

When I left the fitness profession 3 years ago I knew I would miss it.  This allows me to be involved again.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Oh geeze…I would have to say kettlebell swings…but it depends on the day really.

What is your favorite cheat food?

My mom’s double layer chocolate cake with white butter cream frosting OR Fattigmann (a Norwegian cookie)

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

I would have to say Batman, mainly because he is a “normal” human that accomplishes great feats without “outside” powers.  But also because my two year old will say “I’m batman” and it cracks me up.

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START FOCUSING ON YOUR HEALTH?

I have always tried to focus on my health and fitness since I was young, but once I turned 30 I turned it up a notch trying to focus more on my diet.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS AND EXERCISE?

I have always been a runner since I was in junior high and even through college and have always loved working out and staying in shape. CrossFit was something that was out of my comfort zone that looked like a challenge so I decided to go for it ( and my husband wouldn’t leave me alone about trying it).

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I love motivating others and watching people achieve their goals so this was calling my name!!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT?

Power cleans and rope climbs!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

Reese peanut butter cups…. I tend to find them in my coat pockets and car!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

I’m going with Wonder Woman because she is a chick and has a sweet Tiara!! I asked my daughter because I have no clue when it comes to superhero’s lol and that was her answer !!

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START FOCUSING ON YOUR HEALTH?

I started focusing on intentional nutrition in 2018.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS AND EXERCISE?

I’ve always enjoyed playing sports growing up, and it’s been fun to set goals and meet them in adulthood.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I was having so much fun in my CrossFit classes that I couldn’t help but want to be part of its leadership!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT/WORKOUT?

My absolute favorite movement is the snatch.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

That’s a toss up between bacon and donuts!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

My favorite superhero is Aquaman, because he’s basically a merman. And the ocean is a place where I constantly want to be!

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START FOCUSING ON YOUR HEALTH?

I would say, I truly got into physical activity + being conscious about my diet my sophomore year of college (2015)

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS AND EXERCISE?

I had always been pretty active growing up playing volleyball, basketball and tennis and really enjoyed it!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I’ve had a lot of great coaches in my life that have helped me reach my goals, so I really enjoy giving back and helping others reach their goals!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT?

Ooohh I would say Single Leg Dead Lifts

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

I make a mean salsa to go over my tacos!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

Definitely Batman. I think it’s the voice, haha!
